This one was first published inand holds up really well wjndham. Good as Wyndham’s book is and to be clear, I found the book to be almost compulsively readable and The story is told from the viewpoint of Matthew’s Father, who has the dual role of trying to listen to and understand Matthews accounts of “Chocky” while placating his not-so-keen wife.

This series is the one that started my obsession with comic books. One liners he’s giving ’em. View all 32 comments. Twelve-year-old Matthew seems to have a new friend, but not of the corporeal sort. So he told them about Chocky – the person who lived in his head. This novel and The Chrysalids suggest that humans present more of a threat to humanity than anything else does – now that’s realistic.

A good read with lots of thought provoking questions. Wyndnam, Clay and Susan. In fact I found the book rather hopeful in tone.

I picked this book up at work a few days ago and had never heard of it. The ending, a salvation of an extremely dubious sort, leaves the reader pondering how truly ephemeral our version of civilization is.
Just so you know, some of the books we review are received free from publishers. Although you can also find the emotionally-bonded English family setting in some of his stories, this is unlike his well-known novels that address threats to humanity. That is not what I got, though.
